Brighton and Hove LG Unison branch is proud to sponsor the city’s Living Wage campaign, which recently celebrated signing up more than 700 local employers.
The campaign asks local employers to pledge to pay staff the real Living Wage of £9.50 per hour – not the Government’s lower minimum wage, which it has cynically rebranded a “living wage.”
At an event to mark the campaign’s success Unison’s Sue Bowes said: “It makes perfect sense for our branch to support this campaign, as it fits perfectly with our own aim to win a decent wage for our members so they can afford to live in our beautiful but expensive city.
“So far 721 employers have signed up, with an increasing number from the sectors where we recruit members, including the care sector and the voluntary and community sector.”
