Support our NHS colleagues on strike 29th Jan

Unison colleagues working in the NHS will be taking strike action for 12 hours on Thursday, 29th January. There will be picket lines at all the main NHS buildings in the city and there will be a rally at 1pm on the Level. Everyone is welcome at both the pickets and the rally.
Brighton & Hove Local Government Unison branch is encouraging members to show as much support as possible for our NHS colleagues, who are fighting for a decent pay rise and for the future of the NHS itself.
Sussex Defend the NHS has organised an Open Forum at the Brighthelm Centre on the evening of the same day – once again all are welcome. Details below:
Open Forum
Migrants: What they do for the NHS and how they miss out on healthcare
Do you have stories to tell about the achievements or problems of black and minority-ethnic workers in the NHS?
What is it like for immigrants trying to access healthcare? And how can they be supported?
Would you like to discuss the reasons doctors and nurses leave the UK to work abroad?
Do you want to develop more arguments against UKIP’s racist explanations of the problems faced by the NHS?
Come and join the discussion, introduced by:
Patience Mugawazi – healthworker, formerly BME Community Development Worker and chair of Staff BME Network in NHS Trust
Maude Casey – Visitor at two Immigration Detention Centres
Thursday 29th January, 7pm Brighthelm Centre (café), North Rd, Brighton.
