Brighton & Hove strike is great success

Brighton & Hove played a key part in the national public sector strike yesterday, with thousands in the city taking action.
Local government workers, teachers, school support staff, civil servants and firemen joined the strike, with about 3,000 of them and their supporters marching through the city in two feeder marches to a rally on the Level.
Pavilion MP Caroline Lucas joined trade unionists on the platform to denounce the government’s attacks on the pay of public sector workers as well as the vital services they provide.
The marchers were clapped and cheered by many members of the public as they made their way through the city, showing that many people support them in their battle for a living wage and better-funded services.
