Don’t hold a gun to our heads!

The two main unions representing Brighton & Hove City Council staff lobbied councillors on 24 January over their proposals to “modernise” pay structures which could result in pay cuts for staff.

Unison and GMB members told Green councillors before their Policy & Resources Committee meeting that they didn’t like the proposals. In addition they didn’t like the statement in the council report making the proposals that if an agreement couldn’t be reached, changes may be imposed on staff anyway.

“In negotiating terms, that’s asking us to sit down and talk to with a loaded gun to our heads” said Unison branch chair Andy Richards.
